Things have been quite busy with a hectic and constant on the go schedule. My temporary job completely wears me out, to the point that I literally come home and fall asleep from exhaustion. The good news is that they cut my hours this week to 18 hours; the bad news is that I can't pay bills on that.
Family schedules have complicated my studies as well, as we have had fund raisers to go to and evening activities that are not normally in the schedule. I have been struggling with my middle schooler not wanting to get up in the morning, and he has been late 6 times this year already.
I just looked at one of my online classes and there were 300 messages to read and I was three weeks behind at least on "stuff" in that class.
On a sweeter note, I located a really great fundraiser/promo item for schools and special events. 123Wrapper.com offers personalized wrappers for candy bars, water bottles, and mint wrappers. What a neat way to promote your special event or a school function! You can get a souvenir water bottle label for less than $1 each! So you buy a case of bottled water for $4, spend $24 on labels, and you can sell the customized bottles for $2.50 each. Additionally, 123Wrapper.com offers pre-designed wrappers for common events such as graduation or as a "Thank You" to parents or students. They even have gift baskets available for purchase for your friends, family, or as a treat for yourself.
This blog is part of my graduate course of study at ETSU. I am completing a Master's Degree in Educational Technology.

Fall 2010: Starting Notes
About me:
Jim Chapman completed his undergraduate degree at East Tennessee State University in 2007. He is a licensed special education teacher (grades K-12) in Tennesee. He is also the parent of two boys with Asperger's syndrome. Jim specializes in developing curriculum modifications for students with disabilities. He is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Educational Technology.
Jim is the author of Sensory Integration, Sensory Processing Disorder, and Autism Spectrum Disorders: A Primer for Educators and Clinicians, a paper written as part of his undergraduate program. Jim presented a poster at the Appalachian Student Research Forum (2006) and presented a discussion of sensory processing disorder at the Boland Undergraduate Research Symposium (2007).
Jim enjoys working on computers, role-playing games, web site design, and software training. Jim manages a home-office computer lab with 3 desktop computers networked to an Epson multifunction printer, with a wireless connection available for guests and laptop use. In the fall, he alternates between rooting for Florida State University and University of Tennessee football. An avid history fan, Jim enjoys the HBO series Rome, as well as Starz Original Productions' The Pillars of the Earth and Spartacus: Blood and Sand.
My Goals:
I am interested in learning more about developing and using online databases to provide assessment questions and answer banks for curriculum-based assessments.
I would like to learn more about intelligent learning systems - how can we adapt these to help individualize student instruction? I would like for each student to have a "prescription for learning" where they can work at their own pace through the required topics for each subject.

I have entered the blogosphere, and I hope there is air to breathe here.
